ANNIE GET YOUR GUN

Join us for a performance of our own Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, featuring the story of Annie Oakley, in Broadway's new adaptation of Irving Berlin's timeless musical.

Sharp-shootin' shenanigans await as well-known tune after well-known tune fills the Marilyn Moyer Theatre, from "There's No Business Like Show Business" to "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better."  This classic Broadway score is filled with a multitude of memorable melodies.

Part circus, part hoe-down, and all heart, you'll thrill to the performances of over 100 area young people as ANNIE GET YOUR GUN takes aim at your heart this July!

This production features the onstage talents of approximately 50 principal cast members, who will rehearse the show at Caldera in Central Oregon, July 2 through 13.  These students, from middle and high schools throughout the state, are joined by over 60 additional performers in our Junior Ensemble (4th through 6th graders) and our Children's Chorus (1st through 3rd graders), whose efforts are supported by members of our Summer Tech Theatre program (middle and high school students constructing the set and working behind-the-scenes).

A free preview performance is offered on Tuesday, July 12, at Caldera (principal cast only, without costumes or sets).  Tickets will go on sale in June for four thrilling performances at Jesuit High School's Marilyn Moyer Theatre when everything combines in one grand theatrical celebration!

"Honk!" is the story of Ugly, whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry Cat, Ugly must find his way home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey he not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance in all its forms..

The set and costumes for this production will be made available to area Middle Schools during the coming year (and for years to come), as well as The Project's skilled theatre artists, to help Middle Schools keep theatre alive in their own school community by producing the show with their own cast.  Schools can contract to use the set and costumes alone or with the assistance of Project artists.

Schools can even contract The Project to direct and coordinate the entire production as an after-school program.

While the pilot production this August will feature a small small-scale presentation and limited cast, the program is designed to be expandable with student chorus and ensemble participation.  All resources are being created for use in a wide range of performance venues, from well-appointed theatres to the most modest "cafetorium" setting.

You may wish to invite the theatre specialist at your own area Middle School to attend the performance and/or learn how they can get in on the act with their own Second Stage production this year.

For more information, e-mail Bonnie Auguston, The Project's Office Manager, or call 503-350-3210.

Area Middle Schools are able to access Second Stage resources during the school year at three levels, ranging from a simple rental of set and costume pieces, to technical assistance and directing guidance provided by Project artists, to a full-scale production coordinated and staged entirely by Project directors.  Your school can choose a level of assistance appropriate for your existing drama program's resources.  A necessary performance agreement with the show's copyright owner applies.  Fees are negotiated for each level of service.  Contact Bonnie Auguston for more information.  Available Second Stage titles include Gilbert and Sullivan's PIRATES OF PENZANCE, Rodger's and Hammerstein's CINDERELLA, Flaherty and Ahrens' ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, Disney's ALADDIN JR. and WILLY WONKA JR.
