The Young People’s Theatre Project is proud to partner with local schools to provide quality theatrical productions for middle school students. Our multi-talented artistic staff provide direction, both artistic and technical, for multiple middle schools through the Portland Metro Area. Our available productions include special hour-long, adapted versions of various musicals.
Project Artists
All programs are directed by local professionals with specific training and backgrounds in theatre instruction and production. They teach theatre skills and collaboration, creating a fun production environment while supporting student growth.
Telling the Story
The act of storytelling connects people to their community. Central to the Young People’s Theatre Project is the power of story. Students work together to tell a story – from classic fairy tales to childhood favorites – in a way that connects to their own personal stories.
Professional Sets and Technical Design
All our sets are designed to be portable and flexible for use in a wide variety of venues, from theatres to “cafetoriums” to multipurpose rooms. Tech theatre professionals also help with sound and lights.
Costume Design
All costumes are specifically designed with an “ensemble” look in mind and are easily altered for varying casts.
The costumes and sets are created during our summer pilot program and stored together to offer to middle schools as a package during the school year. Costumes and sets also available for individual rental.
